How does this all work?
Test Prep Flow
What Test Prep Help Does Your Child Need?
PHASE 1 – GENERAL TEST UNDERSTANDING
Most students come to us and need general help with the entire test – both ACT and SAT. For these students, we recommend a minimum of 4 one-hour, one-on-one coaching sessions. The teaching applies to both the SAT and ACT and examples will come from both tests. This gives a firm foundation to the strategies and tactics and techniques that we use to BEAT THE TEST.
Session 1-4 Description
7 Common Principles for Beating the Tests. During this session, we will discuss basic test prep strategies that apply to the entire test. This is not an Academic test, and students need to approach it by taking advantage of the fact that this is a multiple choice test.
Common Math Strategies. During this session, we will discuss common techniques, strategies and tactics for the Math section of the SAT and ACT. After this session, students will be given a 1-hour assignment. The assignment can be broken up over several days, but should be completed before the next session.
Common Reading. During this session, we will discuss common techniques, strategies and tactics for the Reading section of the SAT and ACT. After this session, students will be given a 1-hour assignment. The assignment can be broken up over several days, but should be completed before the next session.
Common Writing / English. During this session, we will discuss common techniques, strategies and tactics for the English/Writing & Language section of the SAT and ACT. After this session, students will be given a 1-hour assignment.
Many students are equipped to begin practicing on their own at this point. And a few students might need only specialized help – that is for phase 2.
PHASE 2 – SPECIFIC TOPICS AND ADVANCED LEARNING
However, some students choose to continue to schedule sessions. Some reasons for continuing include:
- learning more advanced techniques
- for regular accountablity and assignments
- to learn about the ACT Science Section (not in the general work)
- to check in before an upcoming test
These can be scheduled at whatever frequency is needed. We are flexible and all private sessions are schedule for one hour and are scheduled on this website on a first come first served basis.
Meet the team
Meet Debbie Lindstrom
My Road to College began as a dream to help others achieve what we have with our own kids—affordable College at some of the best schools in the nation.
As a professional educator for over 27 years, Debbie researched to find a program to help her own children prepare for college tests to earn college scholarships. That research led her to a system developed by Dr. Kuni Michael Beasley. His program was developed over 30 years ago and continues to help students to be prepared, packaged and positioned for College success and to have what it takes to compete for the best scholarships and top colleges in the country.
As a parent, she saw immediate results in own her children as they began to use the program. She followed the program with great success.
With that success, she eventually joined Dr. Beasley’s staff to learn the ins and outs of the program. She has worked closely with Dr. Beasley for 10 years. And now, with his permission and blessing, she is venturing out to start this new model for delivering his strategies, tools and techniques to others.
Dr. Kuni Beasley – Curriculum Developer and Writer
Dr. Beasley is a retired Army officer, former College Professor for 16 years, and school Administrator/Dean for over twenty years. He worked in corporate positions at the Federal Reserve Bank and Caltex Petroleum Corporation before pursuing his dream to coach high school football. His team won the AAA State Championship in 1994.
Dr. Beasley started this program in a rented Sunday school room in Duncanville, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) in 1996 with seven students – one became an MD and two earned their Ph.D.s. Over the years, the program grew to encompass fifteen College Prep Academies from Springfield, MA, to Hot Springs, AR, to Palm Springs, CA. Due to the tremendous success he had with his own students, he was asked to provide a College Preparation program to the general public in 2011.
He learned early how to seek college opportunities. He started college at 16 with 11 full scholarship offers. He completed 22 years of college and paid for only one semester, using scholarships, grants, waivers, entitlements, exemptions, and dozens of little known ways to reduce his college costs.</p>
He has helped thousands of students become better prepared for college, better packaged for admissions, and better positioned to receive the top scholarships and the most funding. Dr. B (as he is affectionately called) wrote the curriculum that we are teaching and is an invaluable asset to our team.
